Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have continued their humanitarian efforts by donating $1 million towards children affected by the war in Iraq.

The star Hollywood couple’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation has made the pledge to the Education Partnership for Children of Conflict, which will split the funds between the US and Iraq.

School rehabilitation, accelerated learning programmes and sponsorship for up to 300 women and 1,200 children who will benefit from the Iraqi donations.

While in the US, 2,500 children who have lost parents serving in Iraq or have endured a parent’s long deployment or injury will receive help via the Armed Services YMCA Operation Hero programme.

“These educational support programs for children of conflict are the best way to help them heal,” Jolie said.

“We hope to encourage others to give to these great organisations,” Pitt added.

The move will affect 8,000 children in total. Jolie can be seen at the cinema in Wanted from this Friday, in which she plays a sleek, sophisticated member of a mysterious body of killers known as the ‘Fraternity’.

  1. I think this couple are the great example to those people who have the fortune to give. I think they are genuine and not just for publicity and i think if only they can adopt all the unfortunate kids they will, God Bless both of them I think all the blessing they will get is measured and they deserve them.
